Today 644 VGS at RAF Syerston were authorised to fly cadets again after the Gliding pause and Trent Wing cadets were the first cadets to fly! This was the result of a lot of hard training by staff at 644 VGS, OC Sqn Ldr Heeral Poria has been looking forward to getting back to flying cadets and was able to offer 4 slots today & tomorrow to work the staff team up ready to normal cadet flying operations!
The cadets started with Glider Fam, Blue Wings ground school and followed by Part Task Trainer. They had lunch then went out to the airfield to fly for the first time in a Viking Winch Launch Glider, they were all able to do at least 2 launches and some did 3! At the end they were awarded their Blue Glider Wings badge by OC 644 as part of the Progressive Training Syllabus and they all had a great day!
It's great that gliding is back on and we hope to have more news soon about availability of slots. Great job by all at 644 VGS and happy landings👍
