DOING THEIR BIT FOR THE BAND
For many years the cadets, staff and civilian committee members of 2160 Sleaford Sqn have provided support to the band concerts hosted by the Royal Air Force College Cranwell.
In the first week of May, when the spring concerts are taking place, 2160 personnel are ‘front and centre’ once again over the three day cycle.
Under the watchful eye of the College Warrant Officer the cadets performed their primary task for the evening, ushering concert patrons to their seats, the bar or toilet facilities as required.
During the interval the cadets once again took up their ushering duties ensuring the guests did not get lost in the extensive corridors of Whittle hall. Whilst the intermission was in progress many of the guests engage the cadets in conversation and a great many complementary remarks are heard regarding their smart appearance and cheerful manner.
Just before the evening reached its conclusion the cadets turned their hand to helping the bar staff clear up; tea towels to the fore, they ensured the stock of glasses were sparkling clean and packed away.
With this job done it just left them time to be ready for the mass exodus at the concerts conclusion. Still smiling and ever helpful the party from 2160 contemplated a job well done before setting out for home.
As ever, we are eternally grateful to the cadet’s parents and wider family members for disrupting both their early and late evenings to transport the youngsters to and from RAF Cranwell. We would have difficulty doing this job without you, thank you.
