Chief of the Air Staff's Commendation - Queens Birthday Honours List 2021.
We are truly pleased to hear that Flt Lt Michael 'Mick' North has been awarded a Chief of The Air Staff's Commendation in the Queens Birthday Honours list 2021.
Flt Lt North, at the age of 72, has spent 50 years in adult service with the RAF Air Cadets. His dedication, excellence and Tenacious spirit has seen him Command 384 (Mansfield) Squadron for decades.
His service started as a cadet on the unit and has seen thousands of cadets and staff pass through the unit, gaining from the air cadet experience.
Part of his citation reads:
"The example he sets has percolated through generations of cadets that by now number into the thousands. Former cadets that have benefited from North’s tutelage include an Air Commodore, two Group Captains, the Deputy Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Constabulary, and a vast melting pot of officers who have gone on to command their own squadrons or join the Wing and Region staff."
We would all like to congratulate Flt Lt North for his unwavering spirit, dedication and the example he has set for us all.
We are all immensely proud.
