It has recently been announced that Trent Wing have been awarded the prestigious Sir Roger Austin Sword for 2024/2025.  The award is for efficiency in DofE judged by number of awards gained as a wing divided by the number of cadets in the Wing.

Over the 12-month period, across all our 27 Squadrons Trent Wing have achieved 268 DofE Awards, including: 178 Bronze level awards, 58 Silver level awards and 32 Gold level awards.  This is the highest number a Wing has achieved since 2012 when the EDofE System was introduced by the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.  In terms of efficiency Trent Wings percentage was nearly double its nearest rival.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our CFAVs supporting expeditions and helping Cadets complete their Volunteering, Physical and Skills section – so many hours will have gone into each individual award at a Squadron level.

Speaking about the success of winning the Sir Roger Austin Sword, Sqn Ldr Gill Wills, Trent Wing Duke of Edinburgh Officer said “I am immensely proud of what we have achieved as a Wing, the challenge now is to keep up momentum and carry on offering as many cadets as possible within Trent Wing the opportunity to complete Duke of Edinburgh Awards at all levels”.
