Over the weekend of 15 & 16 April 2023, Cadets from Trent Wing were at EMTA Beckingham Ranges, conducting Live Marksmanship Training on both the L98A2 Cadet General Purpose Rifle and the L81A2 Cadet Full Bore Target Rifle. For the cadets to have got to this stage they have already had to complete several training sessions on safe handling and live Marksmanship Training at 25M distances.
Once they demonstrated they could shoot to the required safety standards, they are able to progress to firing at longer ranges.Saturday saw the cadets using the L98A2 up to distances of 100 – 300m with some impressive shots, progressing up to 600m on Sunday. The cadets firing at this distance are some of the best within Trent Wing and are hoping to progress on to competing at national level competitions.
This was a very successful consolidation of all the training the cadets have undergone over a last few months and it was brilliant to see cadets returning to Full Bore Target Rifle and Long Range target shooting after a gap of many years.
